George has been performing as an oboist from an early age. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music, the Nordwestdeutsche Muzikakademie, Detmold and Peterhouse, Cambridge he has worked with many of London’s major orchestras and especially with  the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. George has devoted much time to chamber music and has been a member of a number of leading ensembles. He also performs solo recitals and concerti and has undertaken some engagements as a conductor.

George has over the years been committed to promoting new music and including premieres of works including Paul Patterson’s Comedy for Winds and Duologue for oboe and piano, John Gardner’s Oboe Sonata No 2, Andrew Downes’ Oboe Sonata In the Gardens of Burdwan, John Mayer’s Abhut Sangit for oboe and piano, Elizabeth Maconchy’s Wind Quintet, Hans Werne Henze’s L’Autunno and Gregory Rose’s Oboe Concerto.
